Goree v. State, 2007 OK CR 21, 163 P.3d 583, This appeal resulted in the Appellate Court ordering a jury instruction modification change in the law.  OUJI CR-4-6 element instruction modified for crime of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

Other notable cases


United States v. Hatch (10th Circuit) CCA No. 95-6411 .   After obtaining not guilty verdicts on several counts charged during Ms. Hatch's federal jury trial, Bill Zuhdi appealed the remaining counts to the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.  On appeal, all of Ms. Hatch's convictions were reversed with intructions to dismiss the case.

O.Z. v. Metro Goldwyn Mayer, et al.  Copyright infringement case involving the movie Stargate.  Over 140 million dollar judgment taken against one of the movie makers, Centropolis Film Productions.  Case successfully settled.  After Bill Zuhdi defeated the remainng defendants' motion for summary judgment, the other movie makers, including Le Studio Canal, settled the case.

Hurn v. State, Case No. F-1992-1196.  appeal out of Oklahoma County.  20 year sentence and conviction for trafficking in cocaine base was reversed with instructions to dismiss the entire case.

Owens v. State, Case No. F-2007-1151, appeal out of Tulsa County, OK.  Conviction for first-degree felony murder and life sentence was reversed and remanded for a new trial.

West v. State, Case No. F-2005-7000, appeal out of Creek County, OK.  Conviction and sentence of 45 years was reversed and remanded for a new trial.
 

Filion v. State, Case No.: F-1999-559, appeal out of Tulsa County, OK.  Mr. Filion's felony conviction was reversed and a new trial ordered.

Bilbrey v. State.  Post conviction application filed in Cleveland County.  Ms. Bilbrey's post conviction application was granted by the district court and her conviction was dismissed.

Dahl v. State, Case No.: F-2005-1282, appeal out of Oklahoma County, OK.  336 year sentence reversed and remanded for resentencing.

Morris v. State, Case No. F-1999-1374, appeal out of Stephens County, OK.  Conviction for  first degree rape was reversed with insructions to dismiss.

McMannus v. State, Case No.: F-2000-912, appeal out of Muskogee County, OK.  Mr. McMannus's convictions for rape in the first degree were modified.

Lathrop v. State, Case No.: F-2004-82, appeal out of Oklahoma County, OK.  Counts 5,6 and 7 reversed with instructions to dismiss.  Dissenting opinion also reversed and ordered dismissed conspiracy conviction.

Kirk v. State, Case No.: F-2001-278, appeal out of Oklahoma County, OK.  Conviction for domestic abuse was reversed and remanded with instructions to dismiss.

Rawlins v. State, Case No.: F-2004-866, appeal out of Love County, OK.  Mr. Rawlins's convictions for shooting with intent to kill were reversed and remanded for new trial.

Gaines v. State, Case No.: F-2005-213, appeal out of Oklahoma County, OK.   Matter remanded to the district court with instructions to vacate the fines.  Dissenting opinion to modify the sentences.

Phillips v. State, Case No. F-2005-529, appeal out of Comanche County, OK.  Conviction for leaving the scene of fatality accident was affirmed but modified downward.

Long v. State, Case No. F-1989-1192, appeal out of Oklahoma County, OK.  Sentence modified, reduced below the statutory minimum sentence.

State v. Lang, District Court Oklahoma County,  jury trial.  Not guilty verdict on all counts after very short deliberation by the jury. 

United States v. Fridia, all charges dismissed after winning motion to suppress evidence.

State v. Alfred, District Court Tulsa County, all charges dismissed after winning motion to suppress evidence. 

State v. B.C;, Client charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.  After successful preliminary hearing, all charges were dismissed.

State v. Talal, District Court Oklahoma County, obtained release after 6 months on charges of attempted murder, shooting with intent to kill, armed robbery and a subsequent attempted escape from the Oklahoma County jail.

United States v. Rollow, CCA#03-6094:  Sentence reversed with instructions to resentence in accordance with new federal sentencing law in which Bill Zuhdi was one of the pioneering attorneys on the Sixth Amendment right to jury trial issue and change in law, and the pioneering attorney in federal cases raising the same issue.  Also, this case was featured with Bill Zuhdi on ABC World News Tonight and in The Wall Street Journal.  And See United States v. Floyd where Bill pioneered the leading federal case regarding the Sixth Amendment jury trial issue on judge increased sentences without jury trial, which was on file in the U.S. Supreme Court when the U.S. Supreme Court changed the law in a state case.  Bill had been raising this violation of a person's Sixth Amendment right to a jury trial to United States District Courts,U.S. Court's of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court since 1989, until the United States Supreme Court finally changed the law in 2005 finding the violation of the Sixth Amendment right to jury trial.
